
Coach Ben Strandberg just completed his fourth season as Head Wrestling Coach at Earlham High School. He brings over 16 years of head coaching experience, having previously led successful programs at West Central Valley (3 years), Sibley-Ocheyedan (8 years), and Storm Lake (1 year). He began his coaching career as a student assistant at Buena Vista University.
Throughout his career, Strandberg has coached 51 state qualifiers and 18 state medalists, totaling 187 dual meet victories. His teams have earned several honors, including a 3rd-place State Dual trophy in 2016, a 5th-place finish in 2017, and a 3rd-place team finish at the Traditional State Tournament in 2017, with five individual place-winners.
As an athlete, Strandberg was a two-time NCAA Division II national qualifier at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where he was part of two national championship teams. He later became a two-time NCAA Division III national qualifier at Buena Vista University, earning All-American honors in 2007 with a second-place national finish.
In high school, he was a two-time state qualifier for Emmetsburg, placing second in 2002 and helping lead his team to its third straight state championship.
Coach Strandberg holds a B.A. in History and Education from Buena Vista University (2008). He and his wife, Staci, are the proud parents of Lilli, Charlie, and Cooper.
