Building the Future of Earlham Wrestling

The Earlham Wrestling program is growing — and so are our needs.

We’re excited to announce plans for a brand-new wrestling facility that will nearly double our mat space and provide a high-quality training environment for our athletes. This new space is essential to supporting our expanding program at the High School, Middle School, and Club levels, for both boys and girls.

Why We’re Building

Our current wrestling room provides just 36x40 feet of mat space — not enough to accommodate the number of athletes in our program.
The new facility will feature 42x80 feet of mat space — nearly two full mats — giving our athletes the space they need to train, grow, and compete safely and effectively.

Funding the Project

The Earlham School District has committed $100,000 toward the project.
The remaining $150,000–$200,000 will be raised by the Earlham Wrestling Club through community support, individual donations, and sponsorships.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do we need a new wrestling facility?

Space Availability
EWC has practiced in our current facility with very limited mat space. With the rapid growth of both girls and boys wrestling, the current room is no longer sufficient. After the bond measure for a new wrestling room did not pass, we believe this independently funded structure is the best path forward.

Record Growth
Earlham Wrestling Club now serves over 100 members — and we’ve outgrown our existing space. We want to be proactive, not reactive, by building a facility that meets the needs of our growing program today and in the future.

Sustained Success
Wrestling is a proud part of Earlham’s identity. Our youth and high school programs have consistently produced champions at every level. To continue this tradition, we must invest in the future of our athletes by providing them with the space and resources they deserve.

Who will benefit from the new room?

Our High School, Middle School, and Club wrestlers — boys and girls alike — will all train in the facility. It will serve as a long-term hub for wrestling in Earlham.

How much needs to be raised?

We’re raising an additional $150,000–$200,000 on top of the $100,000 already committed by the school district.

How can I donate?

Donations can be made in several convenient ways:

  • Venmo: @Earlham-Wrestling

    Earlham, IA 50072

  • Phone: Call (515) 230-2572 to discuss other giving options or sponsorship opportunities.

Every contribution brings us one step closer to building a facility that supports the future of Earlham Wrestling. Thank you for your support!

Can businesses participate?

Yes. Businesses can contribute through direct donations, sponsor specific items, or pursue naming rights opportunities. Recognition is included with each corporate giving level.

Will donors be recognized?

Absolutely. All donors will be acknowledged according to their giving tier, with options for plaques, online recognition, social media thanks, and more.

Will the wrestling club own the building.

No, the school will own the building. This project follows the same model as previous booster club initiatives, where the school retains ownership of all facilities.

Is Earlham Wrestling, Inc. a non-profit, and are donations tax deductible?

Earlham Wrestling, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) youth sports organization. All donations made to the club are fully tax deductible.

Having a brand new facility is going to make our children more successful? Or is the support of the coaches and parents?

That’s a fair question—and the answer is all of the above.
Our current facility has served us well, but it was originally just a converted space for our wrestling club, and later our middle school program. Since then, we’ve experienced major growth.
We’ve now added two separate high school wrestling programs—one for boys and one for girls—both of which are completely separate from the original club program. Our high school program started just four seasons ago with 7 boys, and we’re now at 20 boys. Since the IGHSAU sanctioned girls wrestling, we've added a growing girls program with 4 athletes.
Our middle school trains after Winter Break in the mornings and includes 18 boys and 3 girls. On top of that, we run 2 sessions of club practice five nights a week, serving around 90 kids.
Here’s where the problem lies: our current wrestling room is smaller than a regulation-size mat, and all high school athletes practice at the same time. That creates serious space limitations—we run practices in groups of 4 when most programs can run in pairs. That cuts down on repetitions, restricts movement, and—most importantly—impacts safety. Limited mat space increases the risk of injury as athletes are often crowded and can unintentionally collide.
So yes, a larger facility will absolutely help our athletes be more successful—not just by allowing more efficient training, but by providing a safer, more appropriate environment for the number of kids we now serve.
But let’s be clear: we’re not relying on a facility alone. Our success is also built on the shoulders of an incredible coaching staff, many with state and national accolades, and passionate, supportive parents who are the driving force behind this expansion. In fact, 2/3 of the funding for the new facility is being raised by our nonprofit Wrestling Club, built by the very people who show up for our kids every day.
The facility is the next step.
The foundation is already here—in our community.
